Aurra Sing Returns

She’s BACK! Left for dead after her failed gambit at the end of The Clone Wars’ second season, deadly assassin Aurra Sing has returned – and she’s out to redistribute the balance of power in “Assassin,” an all-new episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars – airing at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT Friday, October 22 on Cartoon Network.

Tasked with protecting Senator Padmé Amidala during a political mission to Alderaan, Ahsoka Tano is plagued by recurring visions of Sing’s return. Unable to clear her mind, Ahsoka begins to worry that the stress of war is finally taking its toll on her – until the blood-letting assassin reveals herself with an attempt on Padmé’s life. And after their last confrontation left Sing humbled, humiliated and presumed dead, the lean and mean bounty huntress is only happy for a chance at a rematch with the young Padawan…

“Aurra never dies. She gives what she takes and she kind of enjoys it,” laughs Jaime King (My Bloody Valentine 3D, Sin City, The Spirit), who voices Sing in The Clone Wars. “She does have a bad taste in her mouth [after the events of Season Two], but rather than being bitter and angry, she is doing what she needs to do. It’s a very cut-and-dried thing for her. Everything that happens makes her more intense and ruthless. She says bring it.”

Sing’s cruelty and merciless methods have certainly made her a favorite among fans; fascinating audiences with her blink-and-you’ll-miss-it introduction in the live-action Episode I, she’s since been elevated into the upper echelons of Star Wars icons. Her distinctive appearance – creepy yet seductive – plays into that mystique, giving her a visual flair that complements her ruthless demeanor.

“She’s long and lean and lanky, but she has curves. She’s perfect,” says King. “She’s got those long fingers; they’re spidery like she is. Predatory. Her physicality is very much a part of her, and it’s sexy. There are so many people who aren’t inherently beautiful, but their qualities and gifts make them so stunning. It’s the It Factor, and Aurra’s got It. Men love her because she’s hot and badass, and women love her because she’s strong and badass. There aren’t a lot of strong female characters like Aurra.”

Still, while Sing may be “badass,” that doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s all bad, according to King. She may not necessarily be a friendly, compassionate type, but Sing nonetheless has a backstory that provides the drive behind her bad behavior, But don’t expect a comprehensive explanation of those motivations anytime soon.

“There’s a history we haven’t been told,” says King. “It’s up to George [Lucas] and Dave [Filoni] what they choose to show. I have my ideas, but those are secrets I like to hold on to; those are the layers that inform the character when I’m playing her. I’m never just pretending; it’s my job to understand why she does what she does, so that it comes from a place of truth. Each episode reveals more. It’s Star Wars; it touches lives, and I believe it will last forever. I love that.”

The beleaguered Jedi Knights have struggled against space pirates, zombie bugs, mind-controlling brain worms, giant monsters and more, all while dealing with the ever-present threat of attack by the evil Separatist forces – but despite all they’ve been through, their greatest threat is still before them. For future generations of Skywalker, the name of Boba Fett will live in infamy – but now, he is still but a boy bent on revenge, driven by a desire to make the Jedi pay for the death of his father. Things get personal in the heated ONE-HOUR season finale of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS, airing at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT Friday, April 30 on Cartoon Network.

Managing to sustain the creature’s unbridled fury before it can completely ravage its home planet, the Jedi are ordered to transport the tenuously subdued Zillo Beast to Coruscant for scientific study. An indestructible monster of indescribable power on the galaxy’s most densely populated planet – what’s the worst that can happen? Star Wars: Clone Wars season finale clip

Fans attending the Inside Star Wars: The Clone Wars panel at WonderCon were the first to see an exclusive sneak peek of the explosive second season finale.

Supervising Director Dave Filoni, Daniel Logan (voice of Boba Fett) and Jaime King (voice of Aurra Sing) were on hand to present the trailer to an enthusiastic audience.

Feared throughout the galaxy for his ruthless reputation as a bounty hunter, Boba Fett has long been a figure of mystery and intrigue. And though he only had five lines (and a death scream) in the entire original trilogy, it was his silence which helped establish him as an iconic man of mystery – and a fan-favorite character.

Fett wasn’t always a hardened, masked mercenary in head-to-toe body armor. His origins were revealed briefly in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones…but the dangerous first steps on his journey from innocent to icon will for the first time be revealed in the thrilling, three-part season finale of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Reprising his role from Attack of the Clones, Daniel Logan is back as the boy destined to become the galaxy’s most fearsome bounty hunter. But while his character may be motivated by hatred and revenge, Logan couldn’t be happier to return to that “galaxy far, far away.”

In a rural and remote corner of Felucia, Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka form an uneasy alliance with four deadly bounty hunters to protect a local village from Hondo Ohnaka and his band of pirates. But Hondo – always the opportunist and never willing to play fair – has plans of his own in “Bounty Hunters,” an all-new episode of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS airing at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT Friday, April 2 on Cartoon Network.

Clips from Star Wars:The Clone Wars

Reunited with a former flame while on a mission of vital importance to the war effort, Obi-Wan Kenobi must defend his convictions and fight for his beliefs – even though taking up arms drives him further from the woman he once loved. The Mandalorian saga takes a personal turn in “Voyage of Temptation,” an all-new episode of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS airing at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT Friday, February 5 on Cartoon Network.

Traveling to Coruscant aboard the palatial royal vessel of the beautiful Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore, Obi-Wan and Anakin discover a plot to assassinate the powerful political figure before she reaches her destination. As the Jedi and their clones fight to protect the Duchess from a deadly cargo of assassin droids, Anakin discovers that his former Master has a history with the Mandalorian emissary – and that the elder Jedi is not without personal attachments of his own.

“I always wondered what would happen if Obi-Wan had been put in the same position as Anakin – specifically meeting and falling in love with a woman,” says series writer Henry Gilroy. “Would he be able to maintain his vow to the Jedi at the cost of true love? We know how Anakin dealt with this, but how would Obi-Wan fare against the same temptation? I think a lot of people have had relationships that never really got a chance to flourish, and there's always that ‘what if…’ sort of feeling. Even people in healthy, happy relationships ponder their old flames and think about what might have been. I think it really broadens Obi-Wan as a character. He's revealed as a man – someone we relate to because he has romantic feelings like the rest of us, even though he's a Jedi.”

Of course, the vows of the Jedi Order are not taken lightly, and it takes a truly remarkable woman to turn the head and test the heart of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Resolute in her own pacifist ideologies, Satine provides a counterpoint to Obi-Wan’s notions of peace-keeping and conflict resolution.

“Satine’s a formidable woman in all regards – extremely intelligent, incorruptible, passionate and beautiful, with a great devotion to peace. She might come off as stuffy, but that is because she knows she's in a den of wolves and must appear powerful and unshakable,” Gilroy says. “Throughout history, some of the most powerful figures – like Gandhi and Dr. King – were pacifists who literally changed the world by refusing to fight. There's so much fighting in The Clone Wars; when someone is brave enough to speak up to try and stop it, that voice becomes like a light in the darkness, strong and memorable. Satine's resolved to always use peaceful means to end conflicts. The Jedi are peacekeepers, but they carry swords; if they have to use violence to end conflict, they will. That's unacceptable to Satine; she believes that if you bring a weapon to negotiations, you don't want peace. So, she's upset that the Jedi have allowed themselves to be drawn into the war, because it is everything that they are supposed to be against.”

Together, the two consistently challenge one another, each steadfast in their respective beliefs. It is this mutual respect which draws them together, even as their convictions keep them apart.
