Mileena from Mortal Kombat

The upcoming game from NetherRealm Studios is simply titled Mortal Kombat, and will be the ninth installment in the series. The gruesome fighter will see players return to the time period of the first three Mortal Kombat games. Developer Ed Boon had this to say about the overall plot:

...Raiden is about to be killed by Shao Kahn, and just before he delivers the last blow, he [Raiden] sends a mental message to his earlier self, so the camera rewinds back to Mortal Kombat 1. The Raiden from back then gets a message and he doesn't know what's going on, but he knows something bad's going to happen, and the game spans Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 3, retelling the story with an enlightened Raiden, and he's changing the course of things, so everything you've seen happen before – Liu Kang winning, the guys turning into cybernetic ninjas, are changed around, so you might see a character become cybernetic who wasn't before, and so you see a different version [of events].

The game will include roughly 26 fighters, and feature the classic 2D fighting plane with up-to-date 3D graphics. After watching this I was frightened yet turned on at the same time, check it out for yourself.

Mortal Kombat is scheduled for release on April 19, 2011 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles. Facebook check it out here!

Tekken trailer

Honestly, I'm thinking this should be a straight to DVD film. yeah the idea is awesome, even some of the costumes come close to the games. But lets be realistic for a minute here, how many movies based off of fighting games have done really well in the box office? How many movies based of of Video games period? huh?

Tekken (鉄拳?) is an upcoming martial arts film directed by Dwight Little, based on the popular fighting game series of the same name. The film follows Jin Kazama (Jon Foo) in his attempts to rid himself of the devil which plagues his soul and confronting his father, Kazuya Mishima (Ian Anthony Dale) and his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa). As of January 14th, 2010, an international preliminary-seeming trailer has finally been released. Check after the jump for more Tekken info.

In the year of 2039, after World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations; the mightiest of which is the Mishima Zaibatsu. In order to placate the seething masses of this dystopia, Mishima sponsors the King of Iron Fist Tournament, or Tekken, in which fighters battle until one is left standing, who in turn will receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth. We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama, a rebellious teenage street fighter who enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon the Mishima Zaibatsu's most powerful and controlling chairman – Heihachi Mishima. He knows that the only way to get close enough to Mishima to kill him is to win the tournament, but in doing so, he begins to uncover his own past and inner demons as well as exposing a dark underbelly to Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity.
