"No Ordinary Family" for ABC

ABC has picked up "No Ordinary Family," starring Julie Benz and Michael Chiklis.

The ABC Studios project is from Greg Berlantiand writer Jon Feldman and centers on a family that suddenly develops special powers and have to learn how to deal with their new abilities.

The Powells are about to go from ordinary to extraordinary. After 16 years of marriage, Jim and Stephanie’s relationship lacked the spark it once had, and their family life now consists of balancing work and their two children; leaving little time for family bonding. During a family vacation set up by Jim in an attempt to reconnect, their plane crashes into the Amazon River. But this is where the fun starts for the Powells as they soon discover that something’s not quite right. Each of them now possesses unique and distinct super powers. But saving and savoring their family life will be equally important as they try to find purpose for their new power and embark on a journey to find out what defines and unifies them. The Powells are a totally relatable family that happens to be a little bit amazing.

Heroes due for cancel?

Vulture is reporting that NBC plans to cancel their super hero based series "Heroes" which finished it's fourth season last February. However all is not lost for our "Heroes" as it looks like we might be seeing a two- or four-hour movie event in order to give some finality to the franchise.

Such a shame to, Heroes took off out of the block with such a strong start and fizzled out fairly quickly. It just has never been able to recapture that glorious story telling that made it such a fan favorite in its first season. The episodes have become stale and repetitive with Sylar's relentless pursuit of abilities, and Nathan's death after death, and Peter ever the knight in shining armor, even Parkmann became annoying. so if they do happen to wrap it up I hope the go out with a bang.

Human Target renewed for second season.

If you have missed this show than now is a good time to catch up with it. And with "24" officially being cancelled I think "Human Target will have its chance to shine (pun intended)

It is being reported that The Fox Network has renewed the action-based series "Human Target" for a second season despite being on the bubble for possible cancellation. The show is based on a comic book series from DC Comics' Vertigo line of titles. Matt Miller ("Chuck") will be taking over from Jonathan Steinberg as showrunner, Steinberg will still be acting as executive producer for the show.

Smallville Season Finale

I have strayed far from "Smallville" as it moved from "Meteor Freak 101" to "I love you Lana, But i can never be with you" and another season finale bites the dust. The only episode i have watched was the two hour Justice Society movie. I must admit I was hoping that it would invigorate me to want to watch more but sadly, no. With so much more intelligent shows out there its gonna take a little more than that to bring me back Smallville.

Death Note Banned from Schools?

Animevice reported Death Note has once again been placed in the center of a school related controversy; however, unlike previous rumbles, this time it comes out a winner. Peggy Salazar, a mother of an Albuquerque Volcano Vista High School student (and no I didn’t make that name up), has recently advocated that all schools in Albuquerque should ban the Death Note manga from all their schools. So a committee held a meeting regarding this issue, and voted unanimously against banning the book.

A member of the committee said it best: “High school age kids do grapple with questions about justice and morality, and whether civilization, or the societies of which they are a part of are making good decisions." Check out the KRQE story about this historic event here.

Shrek Forever After trailer

I've seen all of the other incarnation's and even the Shrek 3-D at Universal Studios, so no point in stopping now.

After all of his adventures, Shrek (Mike Myers) has become a domesticated family ogre. Instead of scaring villagers away as he used to, Shrek agrees to autograph pitchforks. Longing for the days when he felt like a "real ogre", Shrek is tricked into signing a pact with the smooth-talking deal maker, Rumpelstiltskin (Walt Dohrn). Shrek couldn't resist the offer; all he wanted was a day off to relax, to be a real ogre again, and Rumpelstiltskin said he would give Shrek one day where none of his adventures had ever happened and everything would be like it was before, and all Shrek had to trade him to get a day off was one day from his own life. However, after signing the contract, Shrek discovers he has been tricked, and the day Rumpelstiltskin took out of Shrek's life was the day that he was born-meaning that (since Shrek was never born) he never existed, thus creating a time paradox.

Frank Frazetta passes away

personally I've never met Mr. Frazetta, but I recognized his talent and art, of which many a creator were influenced by. The L.A.Times reported:

Frank Frazetta, the fantasy painter and illustrator whose images of sinewy warriors and lush vixens graced paperback novels, album covers and comic books for decades and became something close to the contemporary visual definition of the sword-and-sorcery genres, died Monday after suffering a stroke the night before. He was 82.

I'm sure many of you have seen his art before and were drawn in by the grace and fluidity that it presented, whether it was on a cover of Conan, or the album cover for Nazareth "Expect No Mercy" or drawing Little Annie Fanny for Playboy. Frazetta has influenced many artists within the genre of fantasy and science fiction. Yusuke Nakano, a lead artist for Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series, cites Frazetta as an influence. Joseph Vargo, fantasy artist and musician (Nox Arcana), cites Frazetta as a primary influence and his art calendars for the past ten years mark Frazetta's birthday.
