Image Comics partner and The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman is teaming up with artist and Image co-founder Rob Liefeld for a new sci-fi series titled The Infinite, as first reported in USA Today.The premise sees a soldier from a post-apocalyptic future traveling in the past to team up with his 19-year-old self to defeat world-conquering enemies, the titular "Infinite." USA Today reports that the series is set to start in early August, and two issues are already in the can. The series wil be released through Kirkman's Image imprint Skybound.
This isn't the first time a Kirkman/Liefeld collaboration has been announced — back in 2007, plans were made public for the duo to collaborate on a Killraven series for Marvel Comics, but the comic has yet to be scheduled, though Liefeld has said four issues have been turned in to the publisher. They're also both contributing to miniseries Image United, which has been plagued by delays.
