In All-Star Superman, the Man of Steel rescues an ill-fated mission to the Sun (sabotaged by Lex Luthor) and, in the process, is oversaturated by radiation – which accelerates his cell degeneration. Sensing even he will be unable to cheat death, Superman ventures into new realms – finally revealing his secret to Lois, confronting Lex Luthor’s perspective of humanity, and attempting to ensure Earth’s safety before his own impending end with one final, selfless act.
Based on the Eisner Award-winning DC Comics series/graphic novel of the same name by Grant Morrison with illustration by Frank Quitely, All-Star Superman is executive produced by animation guru Bruce Timm and directed by Sam Liu (Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) from a script by acclaimed comics writer Dwayne McDuffie (Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths).
The celebrity-packed voice cast is headed by James Denton (Desperate Housewives) as Superman, Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) as Lois Lane, and Anthony LaPaglia (Without A Trace) as Lex Luthor. The stellar cast includes seven-time Emmy® Award winner Ed Asner (Up) as Perry White, Golden Globe® winner Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under) as Ma Kent, Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds) as Jimmy Olsen and Linda Cardellini (ER) as Nasty.
ComicBookResources.com will act as media partner for the events, providing updates and special prizing opportunities throughout its many multimedia outlets.
Produced by Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, All-Star Superman will be distributed February 22, 2011 by Warner Home Video as a Blu-Ray Combo Pack and 2-Disc Special Edition DVD, as well as single disc DVD. The film will also be available On Demand and for Download.

WizKids will release Star Trek Expeditions, a new Co-Operative HeroClix game designed by Reiner Knizia, on June 15th. The game, based on the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie released in 2009, is for one to four players and takes roughly 60 minutes to play. Star Trek Expeditions will include six HeroClix minis (Kirk, Spock, Uhuru, Dr. McCoy, the Enterprise, and a Klingon Battle Cruiser), a game board, cards, tokens, and dice.
In the game’s new storyline, players must lead an away team to the surface of the planet Nibia. It includes random side missions, a unique branching mission tree, and three difficulty levels, which provides a high replayability factor.
Retailers that pre-order five copies will receive a free demo copy for in-store demos (one per store).
WizKids’ Star Trek license includes all the TV shows and feature films (see “WizKids Gets Star Trek”).
A group of Milwaukee police officers with vigilante leanings wore black gloves and knit caps with logos of the Marvel character Punisher on patrol, according to documents cited in an investigative report by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Some of the members of the group also “had Punisher skull stickers on their cars, lockers, and memo books.” One of the officers had a Punisher skull with the number “7” on his truck (most of the members of the group worked the late shift in District 7). Another, who had a Punisher tattoo, tried to buy an assault-style rifle similar to one used by the Punisher. Some of the officers, called a “gang” in one internal Milwaukee Police Department report obtained by the newspaper, were involved in the brutal beating of Frank Jude, Jr., a bi-racial man accused of stealing a cop’s wallet and badge at an off-duty police party in October 2004. Jude accused the police who beat him of using racial epithets during the beating. No badge or wallet was ever found. Seven police officers were eventually convicted of civil rights violations in federal court in connection with the case, and nine officers were fired by the Milwaukee Police Department. The officer who attempted to buy an assault weapon was also convicted on another federal charge after trying to buy the gun while out on bail.
The documents exposing the secret group of “Punishers” were obtained by the Journal Sentinel in connection with a civil case filed by Jude against the city of Milwaukee and former Milwaukee police officers. The group reportedly continued to exist after the purge of the Department, including a police recruit with a Punisher tattoo who continues to serve on the force, despite a recommendation by an internal investigator that he be terminated.
One internal investigation from 2007 said of the group, “This is a group of rogue officers within our agency who I would characterize as brutal and abusive.”
A more benign real life “superhero” from Milwaukee came to light last year (see “Kick-Ass for Real”).
