It’s now official, Kevin Costner, who built a shrine to baseball in a Midwestern corn field in Field of Dreams, will play another rock-ribbed Midwestern hero, Jonathan Kent in Zack Snyder’s Superman: Man of Steel, which is due to debut in theaters on in December of 2012.
Snyder told Entertainment Weekly, “Jonathan Kent is the only father figure Clark has ever had, the man who was there to help Clark understand what he was meant to do in the world as Superman. Kevin will be able to communicate the quiet strength of this rural American man who raised the greatest superhero of all time.”

So the first images of Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman are flying around the web, and I must say “me likes”. The full body shot showcases the outfit that should be appearing in the pilot episode in production by NBC. Of course some alterations were made, first off no hot pants. Not sure I completely support this idea but if you take a look at the image you’ll see why I can get behind this one. *Hit the jump for the first look.
The alterations shouldn’t come as a surprise as David E. Kelley, who has been helmed to direct the pilot, has made it clear fans shouldn’t expect a copy of Lynda Carters uniform from the live action television series of the 70’s. The costume actually takes a page from superstar artist Jim Lee’s redesign introduced in “Wonder Woman #600”
The series pilot is described as a reinvention of the iconic DC Comics character and the synopsis goes: Wonder Woman — a.k.a. Diana Prince — is a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life. Kelley and Bill D’Elia (Boston Legal, The Practice) are the executive producers. The pilot was written by Kelley and will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner (NBC’s The Event). Wonder Woman is from David E. Kelley Productions and Warner Bros. Television. “Wonder Woman” also stars Elizabeth Hurley, Carry Elwes, Tracie Thoms and Pedro Pascal.

DC Comics has ceased using the Comics Code Authority Seal of Approval, which has identified its comics as appropriate for all ages for over 50 years, as of the beginning of 2011. Instead, it will use a rating system for its DC Universe and Johnny DC imprints similar to that used by other comics publishers and which it uses for its digital releases. That system has four ratings:
E – EVERYONE
Appropriate for readers of all ages. May contain cartoon violence and/or some comic mischief.
T – TEEN
Appropriate for readers age 12 and older. May contain mild violence, language and/or suggestive themes.
T+ - TEEN PLUS
Appropriate for readers age 16 and older. May contain moderate violence, mild profanity, graphic imagery and/or suggestive themes.
M – MATURE
Appropriate for readers age 18 and older. May contain intense violence, extensive profanity, nudity, sexual themes and other content suitable only for older readers.
Dc will continue to label all of its Vertigo releases as “For Mature Readers.”
The Comics Code Authority, part of the Comics Magazine Association of America, was formed as a self-policing organization in the 1950s in response to public, business, and political pressure on comics content. Marvel withdrew in 2001 and uses its own rating system.
Bongo dropped the code a year ago, leaving Archie as the only company still using the Comics Code Authority seal.
Archie Comics will also cease using the Comics Code Authority logo with its February shipping books, the company announced today. Archie is the final publisher to announce that it will no longer use the Code logo to identify kid-safe entertainment, ending an era that started in 1954 in the wake of the Congressional hearings on comics content and juvenile delinquency.
DC, the other remaining publisher using the Comics Code Authority, announced Thursday January 20th that it ceased using the Code this month.
“We have a great deal of respect for what the Comics Code Authority has stood for over the years, but at the end of the day, the final judge of our content is our readership,” Archie President Mike Pellerito said. “The CCA has never driven Archie’s editorial direction. As we have for 70 years, we will continue to produce family-friendly, entertaining and relevant stories.”

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that NBC has picked up David E. Kelley's new "Wonder Woman" pilot after all! The network was the final one to pass on the show over a week ago, but that was before the new regime headed by chairman Robert Greenblatt was officially in place in light of the impending Comcast takeover. The magazine reports:
One factor that seemed to have sunk the Wonder Woman project the first time around was the price of rebooting the series, with the studio requiring a rich license fee to bring the iconic character back to life. But then, NBC has been down this road before: It rebooted Bionic Woman. Kelley’s take incorporated the superhero’s signature lasso, cuffs, and plane in the script, and insiders said it was a serious, non-campy take on the DC Comics character.
Now the big question is who should play Wonder Woman?

Cartoon Network affiliate Boomerang has been pushing this trailer all day, this and "Firebreather". I for one am quite excited about it and officially marked it on my calendar. I collected the Young Justice comic and was sad to see it come to an end, but maybe, like everything else, if the show does well (if the trailer below is any indication, i think it will) we will see a revival in the series...but wait, that's what Teen Titans are for. check it out.

Cartoon Network is staging a one-hour Young Justice special event this month, The Continuum has learned.
The new animated series based on DC Comics characters will debut with the two-part "Independence Day" episode on Friday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. (ET/PT).
Here's how the show is described:
"In Young Justice, being a teenager means proving yourself over and over -- to peers, parents, teachers, mentors and, ultimately, to yourself. But what if you're not just a normal teenager? What if you're a teenage super hero? Are you ready to join the ranks of the great heroes and prove you're worthy of the Justice League? That's exactly what the members of Young Justice -- Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis -- will found out, whether they have what it takes to be a proven hero."
Cartoon Network has yet to schedule Young Justice in a weekly time period -- and that might not happen until early 2011.
The Young Justice event will be followed by a repeat of the Firebreather movie, which premieres on Wednesday, Nov. 24. Batman: The Brave and the Bold will not air on Nov. 26.

Combat & Gameplay Details

- Batman now has special combat moves (or terminators), one of them is called "Fallen," a combination of quick punches with a vertical kick that launches the enemy into the air allowing Bats for a second aerial shot. Also there will be others attacks where Batman combines combos and equipment to take out foes.
- Batman will be able to climb all objects, climbing on buildings, including wires (Batman will be able to balance on them) something similar to what was seen in the Assassins Creed II, you will be able to slide underneath objects, cling to poles, rods or perform gymnastic maneuvers and also slide down ramps to grab an enemy. You are also able to get a flying start by leaping through windows.
- Batman now has a feature where he can dodge projectiles shot from firearms, it can also be used for normal attacks.

Warner Bros. Television is planning on launching a new live-action Wonder Woman television series. Not since the days of when Lynda Carter dawned the familiar Amazon princess' costume has the popular DC Comics female super heroine been portrayed in any kind of live-action form. There have long been rumors of Warner Bros. trying to get a live-action movie going, but nothing ever materialized.
According to THR, Warner Bros. Television is developing a modern-day reboot of the classic DC comic book heroine and is lassoing an unlikely talent to potentially write and produce the superhero project: David E. Kelley, the showrunner behind legal dramas such as “Ally McBeal,” "Boston Legal" and "The Practice."
The next DC Animated feature from Warner Bros., following next week's release of "Batman/Superman: Apocalypse" is called "All-Star Superman." This movie will be based on the Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely 12-issue comic book series which shares the same name. the animated movie will feature "Desperate Housewives" actor James Denton as the voice of the Man of Steel, "Mad Men" actress Christina Hendricks as Lois Lane, and "Without a Trace" leading man Anthony LaPaglia as Lex Luthor.
